Hoshino Tea from Yame
Hoshino Village, renowned as the premier production area for Gyokuro, acclaimed as “Japan’s finest.” Nestled deep within Yame, Hoshino Village benefits from a mountainous climate with drastic temperature changes between day and night, along with the clear streams of the Hoshino River—conditions perfectly suited for tea cultivation. The deep sweetness and rich aroma of the tea nurtured by the abundant nature of Hoshino Village offer a unique taste that is unparalleled.
Hoshinocha and Yamecha are both types of high-quality green tea produced in Japan, but they are grown in different regions and have their own unique characteristics. Hoshinocha is grown in Hoshino village in the Yame region of Fukuoka prefecture. Hoshinocha is highly regarded among tea connoisseurs for its quality and taste. It is often sold at a premium price due to its limited availability and popularity.
Hoshino-cha is a tea produced in ‘Hoshino Village’ in the Yamate area of Yame-cha. Hoshino Village is a famous area for gyokuro, and the tea leaves produced in this village are of high quality and luxury.
The green tea component “epigallocatechin gallate (EGCg)” is easily extracted at high temperatures above 80 degrees Celsius, while the umami component “amino acids” is easily extracted at low temperatures. “Caffeine” can be reduced by brewing tea at low temperatures.
Storage method: Avoid high temperature and humidity, and if possible, store in the refrigerator, and be careful not to transfer the fragrance.
