Shincha is a type of Japanese green tea made from the season’s first harvest. It has a delicate, fresh flavor and is highly prized for its quality. The tea harvested on the “Hachiju-Hachiya” day, which is eighty-eight days after the beginning of spring, has been cherished as a symbol of longevity and good fortune since ancient times. It is considered a precious new tea associated with the blessings of eternal youth and longevity.
Yame tea is considered the best in Japan for several reasons. At the national tea competition, which is the highest level in Japan, the judges rigorously evaluate not only taste and aroma but also the subtleties of color and beauty of the shape. It is an extremely challenging task to continuously achieve top honors. However, being repeatedly selected as the best in Japan is not the only reason why Yame is known as the best. About 200 skilled artisans pour their entire lives, skills, and knowledge into their craft. It is their daily training and unparalleled passion that embodies the true essence of Yame tea making and the reason why it is the best in Japan.

「八女伝統本玉露」の茶葉は、茶摘みに熟練した人が、新芽の先の柔らかい部分のみを「手摘み」したものでなくてはなりません。「八女伝統本玉露」は、熟練の生産者が1年間手塩にかけて育て、ごくわずかな量しか生産されない為、大変希少で、「幻の一滴」と呼ばれています。

To be labeled as “Yame Dento Hon Gyokuro,” it must be produced using specific and strict manufacturing methods, which sets it apart from regular Gyokuro tea. Only tea produced using these specific methods can bear the name “Yame Dento Hon Gyokuro.

The tea trees are not directly covered but grown under a “shelf,” they are naturally grown without trimming, and only natural materials like straw are used for covering, with no machines involved in the “hand-picking” process. The natural growing method used in “Yame Dento Hon Gyokuro” (Yame Traditonal Authentic Gyokuro) is based on the natural shape of tea trees, as opposed to the typically curved shaping used in other Gyokuro teas.

Hand-picking ensures that only the tender parts of the new buds are harvested evenly, resulting in uniform bud size.
✅うま味成分であるテアニン等のアミノ酸を多く含み、渋味を呈する成分であるカテキン類の含有量が抑制されるため、浸出液の味は濃厚、「まろやか」で「こく」があります。

What is “Amashizuku”?
“Ten” (天) signifies nature and the sun, and represents the shaping of soil and terrain suitable for tea cultivation through its power, creating the most ideal conditions for tea such as rain and morning mist. It embodies the force of nature.
“Shizuku” (雫) means the blessings from the heavens, including rain and morning mist.

”天雫”(あましずく)とは?

✅ 緑茶の成分「エピガロカテキンガレート(EGCg)」は、摂氏80度を超える高温で抽出されやすく、旨み成分の「アミノ酸」は低温で抽出されやすくなります。「カフェイン」は、低温でお茶を淹れることで抽出を減らすことができます。The green tea component “epigallocatechin gallate (EGCg)” is easily extracted at high temperatures above 80 degrees Celsius, while the umami component “amino acids” is easily extracted at low temperatures. “Caffeine” can be reduced by brewing tea at low temperatures.
